Cumin green beans

1 lb. green beans
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon minced dates
2 tablespoons water
2 cups tomato sauce
1 tablespoon cumin


1. Wash beans, trim ends and cut as desired.
2. Steam in small amount of water until just tender.
3. Combine onion, garlic, dates and water in saucepan.
4. Cover and steam until onion is tender.
5. Stir in tomato sauce and cumin.
6. Simmer, uncovered, for 7 minutes.
7. Stir in green beans and heat thoroughly, about 3 minutes.
8. Serve hot.
